Scientists Deploy Damage Assessment Tool in Laos Relief Efforts

A NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) News Feature describes how a new tool provided local authorities and decision-makers in Laos with near real-time information to assess damages and provide help following the July 23 failure of a hydropower dam. SERVIR AST PI John Bolten (GSFC), along with researchers Perry Oddo (GSFC) and Aakash Ahamed (Stanford University) developed the model. The data was provided to NASA partners working on disaster recovery in Laos and other regions in a coordinated effort through SERVIR (in collaboration with ADPC, host organization of SERVIR-Mekong) and the NASA Disasters Program.
