Hub team members are in charge of day-to-day on-site operations: gathering end-user requirements, collecting and processing the necessary data, combining it with ground observations, and getting the results quickly into the hands of national environmental management and disaster response leaders.

    Professor Kiema is the Director of Technical Services at RCMRD, having first served as Director, Remote Sensing, GIS and Mapping. In his current position he coordinates Technical Services Directorate activities including training, project formulation, implementation and management, advisory and consultancy services, and research.

      Robinson manages the SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa project. His background is in satellite oceanography and application of species distribution models in habitat suitability mapping. He is keen on disseminating interesting features of his work using articles and maps. Robinson and his family enjoy learning new farming technologies.

        Science and Data Lead

        With a strong background in Computer Science and a Master's Degree in GIS, Anastasia has worked in various fields and different types of institutions including NGO, governmental and private sector. She has developed IT related systems in various sectors (water, population and health) individually and also when leading software development and data management teams.

          Kenneth’s background is in Geomatic Engineering, GIS and remote sensing. He has work experience as a professional trainer and expert in geospatial applications. He holds a PhD in remote sensing and GIS from University of Bonn, Germany.

            Joseph has a strong background in Statistics, Population Studies and Development with over 10 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation of health and development projects.               With a background in Geoinformation science in urban planning and management, Kasera previously worked with RCMRD in the data section, assigned to perform advisory, geospatial data processing and dissemination duties for various users. His interest is involving users both within and without geospatial domain to influence policies and decisions for improved environmental management and resilience

                Weather and Climate Lead

                Denis has trained in environmental and climate change science. He has expertise in a number of fields, including climate change, coral reefs, spatial conservation planning, spatial modeling, remote sensing, GIS and spatial analysis. Prior to joining SERVIR-E&SA, his work focused on understanding the implications of global and local threats to coral reef health and their long-term prospects,

                  Faith has more than 7 years of experience in water engineering and hydrology. She has a background in water resources management and hazards mapping with a focus on water related issues and their implications on agriculture and environment. At SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa, she leads activities on water resources and food security.

                    Ngugi Kimani participates in the arrangement of data and applications systematically to provide convenient access for all. He manages SERVIR servers and datasets and also develops applications. Ngugi enjoys watching sports and reading any material just for general knowledge.

                      LULC & Ecosystems Lead

                      Edward's interests include Global Environment Modeling (Systems Modeling/SDMs), Complex Spatial Analysis, Applied GIS and Remote Sensing/Lidar Technology. He holds a double Master's Degree in GIS and Remote Sensing (with Specialization in Global Environment Modeling) from Lund University (Sweden) and Twente University (The Netherlands).

                        Lilian is a professional GIS expert who has broad research interests that focus on the applications of GIS and remote sensing for climate change assessments,  agriculture and food security. At SERVIR, Lilian is working on agriculture and food security projects including Land Potential Knowledge System (LandPKS) and Range Land Monitoring.

                          Phoebe is a self-driven, highly motivated lady with honors in Bachelor of Science in Geospatial Engineering from the University of Nairobi and currently pursuing a MSc. in Climate Change Adaptation from the same University. Phoebe has over six years’ experience in GIS and Remote Sensing. She works for RCMRD/SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa as a Remote Sensing Specialist.

                                GIS System Developer

                                Maungu Oware specializes in software development, mainly building libraries and APIs for RCMRD/SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa mapping infrastructure. He is an experienced developer in Javascript, Python and C++ and contributes to the GeoNode and QGIS open source projects. He holds a bachelors degree in Geomatic Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta Univ. of Agriculture and Technology.

                                  Stella, who previously managed the SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa Grants programme, is currently providing general coordination support: project planning, coordinating, logistic support and correspondence of SERVIR E&SA’s related project tasks and actions. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management.

                                    James holds an Msc. and Bsc. in Meteorology and is interested in atmospheric research using satellite data. His previous research involved comparability of station rain gauge data with Rainfall Estimates (RFE) data and looking at the evolution and distribution of clouds in the mid-latitudes. His work in SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa is in programming for bulk scientific data analysis and the automation of these systems.
