Aïssata Boubou Sall, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer for the Centre de Suivi Ecologique (CSE) - Senegal

Name: Aïssata Boubou Sall
Affiliation: Centre de Suivi Ecologique (CSE) - Senegal
Role/Title: Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Year you joined SERVIR: 2017

Please introduce yourself. What are you passionate about?
Aïssata Boubou Sall is currently a senior expert in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) at CSE. As such, she has been involved in the activities of CSE's Climate Finance Unit, both in terms of projects and the programmes' development, implementation, and monitoring.
With a primary background in geography and a specialization in climate science, Aïssata has more than 10 years of experience in the field of environmental management.

Her recent experience includes:

  • the development of an M&E framework for CSE
  • the preparation of the logical framework and M&E plan for projects submitted by CSE for funding by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the U.N.'s Adaptation Fund (AF)
  • contributions in the preparation of national strategies (NAPS, NDC)

What initially attracted you to this field of work?
The majority of policy and strategy documents developed by our states do not sufficiently take into account the environmental dimension. But the wider environment is the very foundation of authentic and sustainable development. My passion for this profession is born from this observation. To this end, in order to better meet the diverse needs of decision makers and communities in terms of planning, mobilizing financial resources - and implementing development activities - it is important to have a good working knowledge on emerging issues, such as climate finance.

What SERVIR activity are you currently working on?
Technical support to AGRHYMET in the preparation and submission application to the Green Climate Fund for accreditation.

How does your work generate positive change?
The living conditions of people who are very vulnerable to climate change are improved thanks to the projects we are implementing; the assumption of national priorities in the projects we develop; sharing experience on direct access allowing other countries to gain more access to the financial resources of climate finance mechanisms; for CSE to become a pioneer of Direct Access.
